Christians

Christians are directly referred to in the Hebrew Scriptures only twice. Of course, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t other references to the nations coming to Christ.

But, to actually refer to them directly in prophecy?

That’s something different. So, let’s look at what is said.

Israel Slain And God’s Servants Called By Another Name

Isaiah 65:13-16 Servants Called By Another Name

This passage is painful, since it speaks of God slaying the Children of Jacob and Judah and calling His servants by another name.

What name has God called these servants?

Christians.

Followers of Christ.

Members of the Body of Christ.

Those are the servants that God speaks of in Isaiah 65. However, we will suffer the same because most of our churches have rebelled against God, God will slay us and bring Israel back to Himself. You’ll see more of that in the section reserved for Ezekiel’s Fire.

The Restoration Of Israel And The Heathen Called By God’s Name

Amos 9:11-15 The Christian Restoration Of Israel

Here, God says that He will “I raise up the tabernacle of David”. Since Jesus sits on the throne of David (Isaiah 9:6-7), raising up the tabernacle of David would be speaking of Jesus.

But, what is this tabernacle?

Did David live in a tabernacle?

No, David lived in a palace, a fortress – made of bricks, mortar, stone and wood. A tabernacle is pretty much a tent. Every time you see the word ‘tabernacle’ in the KJV, it either means mishkan (dwelling place), succah (booth), or ohel (tent). And, the word that this passage uses is succah (booth). David never lived in a tent or booth, except when he was out with the army fighting the battles of Israel.

So, what does it mean when God says that He will raise up the tabernacle of David?

It means that the kingdom of Jesus will be raised up in Israel.

What kingdom will this be?

Well, as followers of Christ we are members of the Kingdom of Christ, the Kingdom of Heaven, and the one who sits on the throne of David is Jesus.

Does this mean that this is the Millennium, when Jesus rules from Jerusalem?

No.

Why?

Because when God raises the Tabernacle of David, He says that He would build it as in the days of old. And what follows immediately afterwards is this:

12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith the Lord that doeth this.

That word ‘heathen’ merely means nation. But, wait… It says the ‘heathen which are called by my name’. That means Christians. That means that Israel will become Christian, and it means that those of us who survive will join ourselves to Israel as members of the Body of Christ, the Kingdom of Christ. And, like in other passages that you will see here, God will make the land of Israel to be fruitful and will bring the exiles back to Israel.

This also means that there can be no rapture until Israel is saved, because we will need to be around to be part of Israel.
